Local professional artist, Jennifer Lawton, http://www.jenniferlawton.com/, based out of Victoria Harbour, teacher for Quest Gallery, wins the Mayor's Choice Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition at Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square.
The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is a very competitive exhibition for Artists. 400 out of over 1200 applications are juried for acceptance to the show.
Two local artists, Jennifer Lawton, Victoria Harbour, and husband-wife collaborators, Carol Currie and Stuart Leggett of CLAUSTRO, Midland, both were accepted to the highly competitive show.
Many awards are given to the artists over the weekend ($30,000 in awards). Toronto's Mayor, David Miller, along with his entourage, toured the full show to provide the Mayor's Choice Award to one artist, where he chose one artist's works to purchase for display in City Hall, Toronto. That Artist was local artist, Jennifer Lawton (see photo of work with award attached). Aside from winning the award, Jennifer came home with only a few small paintings. She had a sell out of works!
Jennifer's work is a very unique media of photography, paint and a high gloss epoxy finish.
